State after small bowel resection. If more than 100 cm of the small intestine were removed, this is referred to as short bowel syndrome; this syndrome is based on various indications.
Indications
Mesenteric infarction (vascular occlusion of the intestine), Crohn’s disease, intestinal cancers, after radiation therapy (in case of radiation enteritis), injuries / accidents with intestinal damage, also volvulus in children, connatal intestinal atresia, necrotizing enterocolitis.
